1) Money: Not only does it take money to start a home business, you also must sustain it. As I mentioned on an earlier page, you will need a marketing budget to build early momentum and keep it going. Some of the profits from the sale of your companies products and services can serve to fund your marketing budget!
3) Prospects: You'll discover quickly that family and friends won't flock to your door to buy from you or join you in business. Fortunately, the internet allows us to build our businesses without having to rely on them anyway. You must take action that will attract people to raise their hands for more information. Don't worry - plenty of training is available to show you how.
4) Skills: As a Network Marketing business owner, the two principal activities you will be engaged in are attracting people who have an interest for your products and services and presenting the information to them. It's not rocket science, but you must learn the basics and get the basic skills required to accomplish this.
Building a successful Network Marketing home business is not about convincing or manipulating people. It's about helping them find a solution to their problems by becoming a resource for them. Before you start a home business with a Network Marketing company, there are a few things you need to keep in mind:
- You won't be trading hours worked for a regular paycheck. In other words, when you have a job,
you get paid based on the number of hours you work. I call this trading hours for dollars! A network marketing home business doesn't work this way. There's no one to pay you a regular paycheck in return for the hours you work. The monetary return you will see for your time spent building your business, will far exceed what you will make staying in the same 9-5 job until you reach retirement age. - Before you see results, you have to put forth effort, energy, attitude and resources. You will have to advertise and promote (don't worry, you will be trained on the how-to's). There are no guarantees. Starting a Network Marketing business is not a "set it and forget it" undertaking.
- You need to be strong enough to keep going even if you seem to be the only one who believes in what you are doing. Especially around people you know. The majority of people are content living in their secure 9-5 cubicle world collecting their regular meager paycheck. Do not let them discourage you from chasing your dreams!
- Can you live with uncertainty about the outcome of your efforts? We mean uncertainty about exactly when you'll get what results. Few people can live with any uncertainty, so they end up in the mainstream with a job. That's fine, but again, the financial return is much less than for those of us who can live with some uncertainty about the future.
- Don't rush in. If an opportunity sounds good today, it will still be available tomorrow. Remember there are some bad apples in our industry. They represent the scams and the fake companies out there. They're smooth-talking, all-promising, loud promoters, who offer fast, big money to all who need it. Do yourself a favor, check everything out. Check the company's history with the Direct Selling Association and the Better Business Bureau. Do your homework but don't procrastinate. Make a decision, one way or the other.
