Who are you?
My name is Tom Childs. I live with my wife and two children in Orchard Park, NY.
Tell me a little about your background and experience.
I have an MBA in corporate finance from the University at Buffalo
and a Bachelor of Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
I worked for 10 years as an analyst in the manufacturing industry. My
enthusiasm for working the 8 - 5 "corporate" type job that I worked so
hard to get, wore off after a few years. At that point, I came to dread the
ongoing performance pressure, workload pressure, meetings, travel, bosses
etc. I often times sufferred from "Sunday night syndrome" - the bad mood
and sick stomach I would get on Sunday night in anticipation of the upcoming
work week.
Just as you have done here, I began searching for other alternatives. I learned
about the Network Marketing industry and soon started an Herbalife business.
I loved the company and the products. I gave that about one year of effort, with
little success. The problem was that the Herbalife compensation structure is setup
like the typical MLM. If you don't know what I mean by that, just suffice it to say
that it is difficult to get ahead and start making good money. We then had our
second child in Feb 2006 and life got in the way.
Looking back, I'm glad things worked out the way they did. I soon got back
in the saddle searching for a better way than the 45 year plan, and was introduced
to Market America from a good friend of mine. The rest is history! I have been
building my Market America business for 1 1/2 years now, and am more excited
about the business now than I was when I started. They just keep improving the
company, website, and products and services we can offer and make money
distributing.
I want to make it clear that you do not need any special skills or education to
succeed with this business, just desire. I wish someone would have introduced
it to me 15 years ago to save me all of the expense of going to college, and all
of the stress and headaches associated with working the 45 year plan in the
corporate world.

What is it that excites you about your business?
The beauty of this business for me is that I can work it around my other current
job (part time real estate appraiser) and around my family. What other business
gives you such flexibility! I also love the fact that once my business gets to a certain
point, my team size and resulting income will continue to grow without having to do
much ongoing maintenance. The Market America Unfranchise can be marketed
with a simple system and with no hype. I also enjoy meeting new people and making
a difference in their lives either with the products and sevices or with the business opportunity.
What kind of system do you have in place to support new business owners?
Most people cringe at the word system. But "Systems permit ordinary people to achieve extraordinary results, predictably. However, without a system, even extraordinary people find it difficult to predictably achieve even ordinary results" ---Michael Gerber
The beauty of the Market America business is the extensive training and support system they have in place. The career manual gets everyone off to a fast and effective start. The National Meeting Training and Seminar Series (NMTSS) also provides unfranchise owners with regular standardized training throughout all regions. You can choose to specialize in a specific product segment such as Nutrition, Websites, Cosmetics, Neutraceuticals, etc and receive specialzied training and completion recognition status. And of course there are the 3 day semi-annual national conferences - Greensboro every August and Miami every January. I have been to both and can't even begin to convey the experience to you on this website.

What would you consider to be the keys to success?
Right Corporate Partner. Not all businesses and teams are created equal.
Just be careful!
Desire. Before you embark in this journey, you must identify your WHY.
Why do you want a business? Something so strong that if things go wrong or don't
move as fast as you'd like, you have something that keeps you hanging in there
because the alternative is just unacceptable.
Consistent Action. Knowing is not enough; we must apply what we know. Willing is not enough; we must take action. The business will not build itself and it won't happen overnight. You must commit to seeing yourself through this journey and make the commitment to do something every day. We provide a daily plan of action that is customized to all new business partners. All they have to do is follow their daily plan to ensure they then meet their weekly, and monthly goals.
What are some reasons I should start my Market America business under your leadership?
Talk is cheap. But I will still say that I am an honest, caring, hard working family
man. I spent a long time searching for the best Network Marketing type business
to get involved with to provide me a way to create a significant, ever-growing,
residual income, and have found it. Learn from my mistakes.
My team and I are looking to expand our home business franchises significantly over
the next 6 - 12 months, and are interviewing candidates right now. Our goal is
to find 10 new business partners to teach, manage, and help succeed with this incredible system.
This process will focus on training our new business partners on how to start and build their Market America Unfranchise businesses. When they are successful, we will
be successful.
So as you can see, we have a 100% vested interest in the success of all of our business partners. How many other business opportunities out there can provide that kind of support? None that we know of!
The great thing about building a Market America home business is that it is fun
and does not feel like work. I have met so many great people who are all working
together towards the same goal. It is the most positive environment I can imagine.
